Couriers Go Green – underpinning courier and transportation companies in greening their operations
During the Couriers Go Green (CGG) Project, the Budapest Chamber’s International Project Office took on the role of organiser of the consortium’s project closure meeting.
The first day of the event took place in the morning of November 19th at KÉK Contemporary Architecture Centre, followed in the afternoon by a multiplier event for the general public. The second consortium meeting was held at the headquarters of Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During the discussions the consortium partners reflected on the project’s accomplishments and strategized next steps. The main key project outputs discussed included the elements of the Couriers Go Green e-HUB:
- Strategic Planning Green Framework Toolbox
- Measure My Green Readiness Tool
- CGG E-Course, and the exclusively developed
- Professional Certification scheme
Looking back on the past two years, the consortium has made remarkable progress in supporting courier and transportation companies to embrace greener operations. An interactive, holistic framework has been designed to help companies craft or update their green strategies, implement them effectively, and monitor their impact—all while adhering to sustainability principles and maintaining exceptional service quality for their customers.
The consortium has developed a modular web-based course tailored to meet the reskilling and upskilling needs of professionals at both managerial and operational levels. To ensure the recognition of these efforts, a certification scheme has also been established to validate the knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired or even the work experience gained in the sector. Each of these outcomes has been rigorously tested and validated both by consortium partners and stakeholder groups.
Regarding the multiplier event, some 30 professionals attended the roundtable discussions where prominent speakers from the industry and business world shared their experiences and views on the above topic.
The consortium members included representatives from the University of Thessaly (GR), Eugene Global Ltd (CY), Dreven (BE), Isonike (CY), Posta Romana (RO), EasyMail (GR) and BCCI (HU). Contributing partners were EY and denkstatt (HU), and IBS (HU).
